ROLE SUMMARY
The Job holder will provide strategic leadership in: the implementation of financial regulations, policies, strategies, and plans; prudent utilization of financial resources; preparation of budget proposals and cash flow projections; budgetary and cost control; maintenance of books of accounts and other financial records; budget implementation, monitoring and review; development and implementation of internal financial controls; preparation of management reports, financial statements and submission to relevant institutions; maintenance of accurate financial records and regular review of the financial system; and ensure compliance with applicable financial statutory obligation and circulars.
Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Preparing periodic financial statements and supporting working papers/schedules;
(ii) Preparing, monitoring, controlling, and reviewing annual corporate budgets for the organization including reallocations;
(iii) Analyzing financial performance for medium and long-term business planning/ forecast;
(iv) Preparing financial reports
(v) Reconciling general ledger and subsidiary ledgers as well as bank statements;
(vi) Ensuring that the fixed assets register is up to date;
(vii) Monitoring and evaluating the financial information system and suggest improvements where necessary;
(viii) Providing financial analyses and models as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations;
(ix) Carrying out end-of-period closure procedures for the organization;
(x) Liaising with banks to resolve issues on income accounts.
(x) Supporting both internal and external financial audit processes; and
(xii) Preparing cash flow reports.
Requirements for Appointment
(i) Served for a cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years, three (3) of which must have been at the grade of Assistant Manager, Finance and Accounts, or a comparable position;
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce or a related field from a recognized institution;
(iii) Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce or a related field from a recognized institution;
(iv) Professional qualification such as CPA (K), ACCA and/or CFA;
(v) Leadership Course Certificate lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
(vi) Membership to a relevant and accredited professional body such as ICPAK, ACCA, and/or the CFA Institute and in good standing;
(vii) Practicing license where applicable;
(viii) Proficiency in computer applications;
(ix) Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution; and
(x) Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
